Open Pool Session

The sun maybe getting low on the horizon but things are heating up in the pools. Open pool sessions are underway again running three season sessions and we are looking for paddlers who want to have fun kayaking all year long.

Open pool sessions are offed by High Level Canoes and Kayaks through the University of Lethbridge programs which offer paddlers a chance to stay active and keep their skills up year round while having a great deal of fun in the process.

The times for this are Thursday nights from 8:30 - 9:30 pm, with sessions running ( Autummn, Oct and Nov - Winter, Jan and Feb, Spring March and April ) with dates posted on the High Level websire and are subject to change. Fees for the session are $5 per person and paddlers  should bring their own boats and gear. Boats and gear must be clean and free of any sand or debree. High Level will also have a few boats on hand and can be rented ahead of schedule for an additional $5 per class.

All paddlers bringing boats will access the pool at the P.E. complex north west entrance and must remove all street footwear prior to entering the pool. If the boats are not clean they must be rinsed off with the hose prior to entering the water.

Players under 18 must wear PFDS and helmets and all other players are encourged to do so also. High Level Canoe and Kayaks will provide certified staff members for supervision, boat rentals and assistance with any paddling questions through out the session.

Prerequisite:

age 6 and up
good swimming skills required
level on or kids camp

Requirements:

Change of clothes and towel
swimwear

Provided:

for rental all paddling gear
                all water related clothing
                Pfd and all safety gear

Techniques:

basci paddling skills
rolling and rescues
advanced boat handling manoeuvres

Cost:

$5 per session
$5 boat and gear rental ( must be rented at High Level prior to the session)
