Start To Finish 6 week Winter Flatwater Kayaking Pool Session

You want to start kayaking but you missed out on the summer sessions, well the warmth and clean indoor waters await. Many people love learning to kayak indoors in a nice clean warm environment so with this in mind we developed a 6 week program running during our fall, winter and spring sessions. These sessions run Monday nights from 7:30-9:00pm at the Max Bell Pool and are designed to incorprate our level one and two programs to get you ready for the open water or level three moving waters when the warm summer sun makes its return.

To begin your experience we will be meeting at the University Max Bell Pool at 7:30 pm where the students will continue their education with a daily dryland session covering advanced gear, greater safety and high performance boat design. Then our skilled instructors will enjoy getting you wet practising the wet exit, followed by the basic strokes and then on to a vast amount of advanced stroke work and boat control that will challenge you to improve. Once we have completed the paddling skills portion of the course you will them be working on the rescue scenarios. Our rescues are designed to educate the touring paddler and whitewater enthusiast alike. We will be covering at least five different resuces along with the T rescues that we will be using for those who would like to advance to the full roll. In this session our goal is to develop our students into becoming safe knowledgeable paddlers developing a range of advanced tecniques with the potential for day touring to multi day tripping or the next levels moving water dynamics. ( note you will be getting wet an be asked to exit your kayak if capsized, but not to worry as our staff loves to help you through this adventure.)

This experience will teach you a variety of advanced skills in a safe and fun apporach while helping build confidence and self esteem. From here you will have the chance to advance your training with our continued education programs and establish more confidence on the water. The certified instructors at High Level Canoes and Kayaks are trained in instructin paddlers of all ages and will lead you through age related skills and drills with lots of thrills.
