So now you have the skills and would like to pass on your knowledge, well look no further as we have put together a program that will have you on your way to becoming a first rate instructor. This is an 80 hour extensive program designed to make you confident with your abilities on and off the water keeping you paddling year round and working senior instructors advancing your skills. Students in this course will be working hand in hand with the Highlevel Instructors working on a variety of courses and sessions. Also the student will be developing instructional skills involving problem solving, valuing, critical thinking, leadership and interaction focusing on risk management ethical decision making and safety throughout the skills instruction of technique to trip planning.
This session runs year round and will begin with the students maintaining a log of all hte paddling programs attended throughout the year. The program will consist of flat water indoor pool instruction and flat water outdoor sessions where students will be learning a variety of skills and tasks involved with running a flat water program.
Flat water sessions will cover teaching practices and theory while learning to design and implement a lesson plan in addistion students will be helping to prepare class gear, learning how to load and unload boats while outfitting students with gear and learning how to properly fit students to their boats. In this course the students will be inproving their skills while observing other students paddlingstrenghts, weaknesses and implemneting the correct methods of boat body and blade. The emphasis is that the students observe and help other paddlers improve their skills and increase their confidence. Pool sessions will consist of one day introductory courses to six week sessions covering level one and two. Rescue classes and rolling classes are also classes the students have the opportunity to observe and assits while working indoors. These students also have the opportunity to both play and help others learn about the sport of kayak polo during our three season sessions.
Outdoor spring and summer classes will consist of a geart deal of flat water paddling at Park Lake where the students will be helping out in both levels one and two and covering a great deal of dryland theory. Here the student should learn to feel comfrotable in both river, recreational and ocean kayaks while watching, learning and helping assist in the various flat water skills from wet exits to the t rescue. Kids camps are another summer favourite that will keep everyone on their toes looking afte kids as young as 5 offers many new challenges in teaching. During these sessions student shave a lot more chances to have fun helping organize games and age appropriate activities, all the while trying to instill a safe and fun approach to the exciting world on the water. Students will be experiencing everything from high fives to runny noses while maintaining a profession status.
All the flat wate rprograms both indoor and out are based on a mximum of 8-1 student to teacher ratio not including the student instructor.
These classes will be running year round with the greatest of concenctration being throughout the summer months so the opportunites are endless if you have the desire and basic skills. Students will have the chance to select from many courses being offered and will be expected to attend from load up to take down and remember you are training to be a leader.
This experience will teach you a variety of advanced skills in a safe and fun approach while helping build confidence and self esteem. From here you will have the chance to advance your training with continued educatio programs and establish more confidence on the water. The cerfitied instructors at Highlevel Canoes and Kayaks are trained ininstructing paddlers of all ages and will lead you through age related skills and drills with lots of thrills. At the same time we strive to instill upon all participants the importance of safe paddling in all water related actvities.

All student grading will be recorded as either trained or certified based on skill levels on the end of the course.
