Well look no further as we have put together a program that will have you on your way to becoming a future instructor. This is an 80 hour program designed to keep you paddling year round and working with senior instructors advancing your skills. Students in this course will be working hand in hand with the Highlevel Instructors working on a variety of courses and sessions, improving their skills and building leadership fundamental.

This session runs year round and will begin with a student maintaining a log of all the paddling throughout the year. The program will consist of flat water indoor pool instruction, flat water outdoor sessions, moving water classes, kids and adult camps, rolling and kayak polo where students will be learining a variety of skills task involved with running a program.
Flat water pool sessions will involve covering teaching practices while learning to rear a lesson plan and covering teaching theory. In addition students will be helping in preparing class gear, learning how to load and unload boats while outfitting students with gear and learning how to properly fit students to their boats. In this course the students will be improving thier skills while observing other students paddling strengths and weaknesses and observing the detect and correct methods of boat body and blade. The emphasis in the course is that the sutdents observe and help other paddlers improve their skills and increase their confidence. Pool sessions will consist of one day introductory courses too 6 week sessions covering level one and two. Rescue classes and rolling lcasses are also classes the students have the opportunity to observe and assit while working indoors. These students also have the opportunity to both play and help others learn about the sport of kayak polo during our three season sessions.
Outdoor spring and summer classes will consist pf a great deal of flat water paddling at Park Lake where the students will be helping out in both levels one and two and covering a great deal of dryland theory. Here the student should learn to feel comfortable in both river, recreational and ocean kayaks while watching, learning and helping assit in various flat water skills from wet exits to the t rescue. Kids camps are another summer favourite that will keep everyone on their toes, looking after kids as young as 5 offers many new challenges in teaching. During these sessions students have a lot more chances to have fun helping organize games and age appropriate activites, all the while trying to instll a safe and fun approach to the exciting world of water. Students will be experiencing everything from high fives, to all aboard the canoe, to staying standing on the standup paddle boards and keeping focussed on their taks at hand.
All of the flat water programs both indoor and out are based on a maximum of 8-1 student to teacher ratio not including the junior leader.
The moving water classes are ones where the students need to spend a great deal of hours and how better thatn getting to go out and run the vast many rivers we attend through out the spring, summer and fall. The rivers will be determined based on the students confidence on the various degrees of difficulties they are capable of running without much supervision. In this portion of the program the students roll is greatly reduced to more watching and learning, running closely with either the leader or sweeper and to develop a greater deal of confidence in both river reading skills and sweeping abilities.
The students should be highly focused to all aspects on the river but is not expected to help perfrom any tasks beyond theri ability. Running the river programs requires all the same if not more organizational skills acquired on the flat water  and the sturdents will be asked to help perfrom various river tasks from preparing for a trip, to understanding a lesson plan, to working on good communication skills with all members in the lesson.
Three day camps are again a chance to let go a bit while you will be working with many students the same age. Here the students will get a chance to see first hand what is capable based on what you present to them. Juniors wll often watche and relate better to memebers of their own age and will find confidence through watching how well you preform various skills. Again you have a great deal more opportunity to enjoy the momnets working on both flat water fun and fast water fury all the while improving your skills and leadership qualities.
All moving water classes will be a maximum of 8-2 student to teacher ratio not including the junior leader.
These classes will be running year round with the greatest concentration being throughout the summer months, so the opportunities are endless if you have the desire and are an early starter looking to advance to the instructional programs to follow. Students will have the chance to select from many courses being offered and will be expected to attend from load up to take down and remember you are in training to be a leader.
This experience will teach you a variety of advanced skills in a safe and fun approach while helping build confidence and selt esteem. From here  you will have the chance to advance your training with our continued education programs and establish more confidence on the water. The certified instructors at Highlevel Canoes and Kayaks are trained in instructing paddlers of all ages and will lead you through age related skills and drills with lots of thrills.
