If you love to teach and you love the moving waters then here is your next course. The kayak instructor level 2 river program designed for those who have completed the community flatwater instructor level one and kayak leader level 2. Students looking to take this course must have strong paddling skills in class 3 water, currently be certified with standard first aid and swiftwater rescue, and feel confident with all required paddling skills.
This is an 80 hour extensive program where the students will be working with the Highlevel instructors dealing with a variety of situation both on and of the water. Also students will be utilizing their previous instructional flat water skills involving problem sloving, valuing, critical thinking, leadership and interaction focussing on risk managment, ethical decision making and safrty while concentrating on trip planning. Completion of this program will provide the student with a confident ability in teaching students how to kayak down various beginner to intermediate rivers.
this program will run from the spring throughout the fall with the students logging their sessions, working in hand with the instructor designing and implementing various outings on a wide variety of rivers. All of the kayak level 2 programs are based on a maximum of 6-1 student t teacher ratio not including the student instructor.
This experience will teach you a variety of advanced skills in a safe and fun approach while helping build confidence and preparing for kayak instrutor level 2 river. The certified instructors at Highlevel Canoes and Kayaks are trained in instructing paddlers of all ages and will lead you through age related skills and drills with lots of thrills. At the same time we strive to instill upon all participants the importance of safe paddling in all water related activities.

All student grading will be recorded as either trained or certified based on skill levels on the end of the course. Students age 16 or 17 will only be graded to trained level. Students must be 18 to be certified.
